Newcastle Upon Tyne to Edinburgh

A very English start to the day, kippers & eggs.
You can park facing either way over here. Which is fine until you turn into a street & you have a heart attack because there is cars parked facing you on both sides. It looks like you have turned into a one way street the wrong way. 😧

For the farmers- we have seen some 🐑 , a few cows & John Deere is the preferred brand of tractor.

Rewilding gone mad, can’t see anything coming around the bend. Please get your slasher out of the shed!!
Both cars hitting the weeds when we pass.

And still more castles …,

Warkworth Castle
The kitchen with mossy stones.
They didn’t mind a 🍷 this is one of 2 wine cellars plus an ale cellar.
Can you see the lion carving?
View of the River Coquet from the tower.
Medieval graffiti depicting the crucifixion.
Unusual house in Alnwick

And onto Holy Island ….

The causeway across to Holy Island.
We didn’t realize that access is dependent on the tide. Luckily it was low tide when we arrived.
The road is slippery & mossy.
These poles mark the 3 mile causeway crossing on the Pilgrims Way. We saw a group of walkers take off their boots to start the crossing. I bet they couldn’t feel their toes very soon after. Keen!!
Lindisfarne Priory on the island.
Built from a pinkish stone. The rainbow arch.
Needed the raincoat today.
The wild poppies are quite large.
Royal mail postal delivery on the island.
The castle on the headland.

So good to have Cody & Nikita meet us in Edinburgh to do a lap around Scotland with us. And Des & Meryl came all the way to Edinburgh to have dinner with us. What good buddies! A great night catching up.
