The Dingle Peninsula

It is still chilly with a NW breeze off the Atlantic. The locals tell me it should be warmer this time of year with a SW breeze. Today we drove around the Dingle Peninsula & back to Tralee for the night. We drove the Conor Pass through the mountains on the way over & then the Slea drive around the peninsula. Both drives are part of the Wild Atlantic Way which we will be following for the next couple of days.

The peninsula is a Gaeltacht area so road signs are only in Irish which makes it a bit tricky. Everywhere else the signs also have an English translation but not here.

The 🐑 have the best real estate.

Dingle is very pretty.

Leaving Dingle now to drive around the Peninsula.

The stone walls around each paddock make the hills look like patchwork.
A great spot for the kids.
Oh so friendly!
Pre-historic beehive huts. Families & their animals lived here.
On the edge of the road overlooking the ocean.
Ooh don’t slip, it’s a long way down 🫣
Overlooking the Blaskett Islands
Dunquin pier. When the islanders wanted to sell their 🐑 they would put a few in the row boat & 3 men would row them over & then herd them up this very steep pier.
Half way down the pier.
Inch Beach, their version of Fraser.
Sunday roast & Yorkshire pudding. What part of that empty pie case resembles a pudding???? ☺️
