Westport to Donegal

We are up on the west coast of Ireland & it is very windy & overcast again this morning. But give it 5 mins & it might be a beautiful day.

First stop was Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetery with tombs built around 4000BC.

Looks like a ring of ricks but apparently it is a tomb with a chamber in the centre.
Another tomb
My chauffeur standing on a rock that I really hope is not a tomb, in front of more rocks which apparently are called a barrow.
Another tomb inside the barrow.
The cairn on the summit in the distance looks rather like a nipple but is associated with the mythical Queen Meadhbh.
There is stuffed toys everywhere in the Killybegs area. They put them up annually for the Sandra’s Motorcycle Run which raises money for cancer & is in memory of a local girl.
Toys on the signpost.
Donegal Harbour
Donegal Castle
A fairly decent fireplace.
And a fairly decent ceiling.

We drove out to the Slieve League cliffs this afternoon but with the howling wind & sideways rain we quickly changed our minds & decided to try again in the morning. Crazy weather as it is a lovely sunny afternoon in Donegal which is only 45kms away.
