Liverpool to Porthmadog, Wales

This morning we had a “Ticket to ride” the big yellow Beatles Magical Mystery tour bus which took us to all the places associated with John, Paul, George & Ringo as they grew up, met & formed the band. We had fun singing along, quite badly, to all the Beatles songs. See if you recognise some below.

It’s cloudy, but “Here comes the sun” as we head down “Penny Lane”.

We passed the “Eleanor Rigby” grave & then it was onto “ Strawberry Fields” which is a park where a young John used to look over the fence at the girls.

We dropped into the Cavern Club where the Beatles got their start. What a cool club, so many big names have played there including the Rolling Stones & Adele.

Can you “Imagine” how much fun we had listening to the live music? But alas we have another country to get to this arvo so can’t stay long.

George Harrison’s childhood 🏠
Entrance to Strawberry Fields.
The McCartney family home. Paul wrote many hits in his bedroom, top right window.
Every bit of the walls & ceiling are covered in writing.
The Quarry Men was John’s first band.
The Rolling Stones.
Liverpool C of E cathedral is the largest cathedral or religious building in Britain, 8th largest in the world. It has the largest pipe organ in the world. It took 74 years to build the cathedral & it opened in 1978.
A reminder of home. 🦘

On to Wales we went & they have castles too!! Who would have thought. 🤣 I know you must be so excited to see more photos of crumbling old buildings. ☺️ I am almost castled out!!

Conwy Castle
Can you see the wire sculpture of the king’s head?
This looks newer than the castle.
Conwy
Slate piles right next to the road. It looks very unstable. There is a slate mine on both sides of the road.

  1. Loved seeing u in shorts Chrissy!! I bet it felt surreal being at the Cavern?? Bit of trivia – Wales is the country with the most castles per square mile. Despite its small size, Wales had over 600 castles.
Kym often walks at Hadrians Wall.
    They were funny looking sheep!!🐑

    • With the way the weather looks the shorts may not get another run. 😕
The Cavern is fairly small & underground but has been so important to the music industry, a lot of nostalgia there.
Yes Greg did tell me about all the castles in Wales. I may have groaned! 😆
What area does Kym live in? There was lots of serious walkers with their poles along the wall.
So many sheep in the UK but it is one of the most expensive things on the menu. Go figure!
This time next week we will be getting on the ✈️. xx
